Studio Calico Creative Team: Film Club Kit

If there's one thing I learned about my card-making, it's that I definitively cannot rush the process and think outside the box at the same time. I need to have all the things in my hand, try things out on scratch paper, walk away from it and then play some more until a clever idea sparks. This month, with some other deadlines looming, it just didn't happen (yet).

My way to cope? Get out some tried and true card sketches and keep it all on the simple side. And you know what? It totally worked out not least because the new SC Film Club kit items I received (dies and stamp sets) are so so pretty.

I mean, that big flower die! Seriously, this is my favorite single item this month. For this first card, I die-cut the flower from pink cardstock (tried felt first but it was too intricate) and attached it only in the middle. You can create lots of dimension by curling the petals up. Add an enamel dot or button in the center and you have a fabulous focal point for your projects.  The sentiment is from a new flower stamp set, designed by Jasmine Jones, which comes in a combo with the die.

Looks like I'm all for thank you cards this month. The design for this next card is almost completely the same as above. I told you, I kept it clean and simple this time around. First up, I used the polka dot, grid and label paper from the Film Club 4x6 paper pad for the background. The colors are very springy which I love! To create a focal point, I layered all three cutting option you get from the new New Label die to create dimension. The sentiment here is again from Jasmine Jones' new flower stamp + die set.

Inevitably, there had to be a watercolor card. How can you not, with the weather theme that runs through the new Bad Day stamps? I created a resist pattern with a rain drop background stamp (+ embossing powder) and painting over it with Neocolor II crayons. The rainbow die is also part of the new release. Cute, isn't it?

I have a unicorn die and a graduation stamp set here which are still untouched, so I hope to share something with these items later in the month.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Dana
