Creating Dimension: Subtle Layers on a Birthday Card

Do you enjoy creating a layered look on handmade cards? Personally, I find it adds depth and interest to a design, although it can sometimes feel a bit busy. In today's project, I'm excited to show you a different take on layering. Despite incorporating four layers, the effect is very subtle. The background features a delicately patterned Project Life card, serving as the base for our focal point. On top, there's a die cut shape from a vintage patterned paper, accompanied by two layers of leaf die-cuts - one crafted from vellum and the other from textured canvas-style paper. To add a final touch, I couldn't resist including a "layer" of cream-colored sequins and some decorative machine stitching.

Apart from the layers, what also adds interest in my opinion, is the contrast of the organic, round leaf shape with the geometric pattern in the background. Personally, I find that playing with colors is another fantastic way to introduce contrast into my projects. It's always exciting to see how different shades can work together to create a vibrant and dynamic piece. How about you? What's your favorite way of adding contrast?
